Characterization of Acid Impregnated Activated Carbon Developed from Tannery Sludge

چکیده
The sludge discharged from the preliminary treatment of a tannery effluent plant is considered for development activated carbon. carbon developed by impregnating precursor in an acid activating agent (H2SO4). activation carried under different operating conditions such as varying temperature (600–800oC) and impregnation ratios (1 2) two particle sizes 600 µm 300 µm. A content 74% was obtained at 650oC 3 hrs with size (3S-52). characterization 3S-52 out using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) isotherm plots to analyze surface morphology pore distribution, volume diameter. nitrogen physisorption analysis distribution also done −196oC (77K). volume, area were determined 0.133cm3/g, 5.15 Ao 212.32 m2/g respectively. These results demonstrated feasibility treat produce microporous carbons

Biological Treatment of Tannery Wastewater Using Activated Sludge Process
A study was conducted to evaluate the feasibility of Activated Sludge Process (ASP) for the treatment of tannery wastewater and to develop a simple design criteria under local conditions. A bench scale model comprising of an aeration tank and final clarifier was used for this purpose. The model was operated continuously for 267 days. Settled tannery wastewater was used as influent to the aerati...
متن کاملPhysicochemical Characterization of Compost of the Industrial Tannery Sludge
It is very important that tannery wastes in the form of sludge are managed in an environmentally sound manner. This study focused on the heavy metal characterization and the influence of changing the physico-chemical properties of the medium throughout the composting on the concentrations, bioavailability or chemical forms of Cr, Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd in tannery sludge. The physical and chemical pr...
متن کاملContinuous removal of chromium from tannery wastewater using activated sludge process—Determination of kinetic parameters
The activated sludge has been acclimatized with chromium (VI) ions from 5 mg/L to 20 mg/L. It is observed that the chromium removal percentage, COD removal and mixed liquor suspended solid (MLSS) decrease with the increase in dilution rate. Maximum food to microorganisms ratio (F/M) is found to be 0.19. When initial metal ion concentration increases from 5 mg/L to 20 mg/L, the chromium removal ...
متن کاملPd-Impregnated activated carbon and treatment acid to remove sulfur and nitrogen from diesel
Removal of sulfur and nitrogen compounds from national commercial diesel through adsorption onto activated carbon was studied. Brazilian commercial activated carbon samples (AC) were modified by acid oxidation and, alternatively, were impregnated with palladium chloride. Modified carbon samples showed a significant increase in the quantity of acid sites, particularly those AC submitted to impre...
